Frequently Asked Questions
At The Pond, we believe that the best connections are made with real people. We use a combination of a photo ID and a selfie to verify
each user's identity and ensure that every person you connect with is who they say they are.
We do not share these images and we delete them as soon as we are able to verify your identity.
There are three methods we use to verify information:
1) Pictures of documents (photo ID, transcripts, diplomas, etc.)
2) Third-party websites (Credit Karma, College Board, etc.)
3) Email addresses (alumni, company, etc.)
We use strong security measures to ensure that only you can access your info. This involves measures such as Multi-Factor Authentication, data encryption in transition and at rest, and identity verification to make sure your data is never compromised.
The Pond creates high-value connections by matching users based on verified attributes. Entering more data will allow us to get better matches for you, and it will also open up additional filters so that you have more control over who you are matched with.
Third-party website verification takes one to five minutes. Email verification links are sent within five minutes. Document verification can take up to 24 hours.
